I ended my confinement on 20/12/2022 with Kim Yap. It is a very good 42 days of confinement as not only she helped me in the recovery but also taught both my husband and me tips and tricks for handling our baby. Hygiene – Aunty Kim makes it a point to always clean up the kitchen after cooking every meal. Washing her hands and also washes up after she cooks or comes back from the supermarket/outside before attending to the baby. She also wore a mask when she was down with a slight cold and cough. Knowledge – She is very knowledgeable when it comes to handling Chinese herbs, and knew which herbs are best for the recovery of the body. She takes note of the mother’s body before using the traditional herbs which she adds to her cooking. Baby – Aunty Kim is able to communicate with the baby and also understands the baby well. She also makes it a habit to feed the baby in different areas of the house allowing the baby to get used to the environment. She also share and advised us on how to handle the baby in different scenarios. Communications – She communicates well with both my mum and my mother-in-law in regard to groceries, sharing, and updating about the baby. She also advised them as first-time grandparents what should be taken note of when handling babies. Aunty Kim is also very direct when it comes to teaching us the different cues and needs of the baby and mother. Cooking – Aunty Kim’s cooking is really very natural as she doesn’t use any MSG or preservatives in the food that she cooks. Other than just using Chinese herbs, it is very delicious and to my liking as well. Even my chef husband was very impressed with her cooking too! She cooks not only for me but also for both my husband and mother as well. She even helps to prepare fruits for the guest that came to visit. Even after leaving our house, Aunty Kim Yap makes it a point to check up on us from time to time ensuring that we are doing good and the growth of the baby as well. Overall, it was a great experience having Aunty Kim Yap as our nanny, and would love to engage her again if we have another baby. My family really misses the presence of Aunty Kim and even my baby misses her too! Would also recommend her to my friends and family who are going to give birth.
