Dear mummies,

I believe many of you have been through the ordeal of having bad CLs whom are capable of putting you through distress because we are basically at the mercy of them. I personally went through the process of having 4 CLs because the 1st was mentally unsound, the 2nd was darn messy, the 3rd was uber good but had to leave after 3 days cos her next mummy gave birth early and of cos, finally, the 4th who managed to stay through with us for a full 28 days and is also the CL that I would highly recommend in this post of mine.

Aunty Annie first came into the picture because my husband and I were searching in desperation for a good CL and with the help of Yvonne, Aunty Annie took pity on us and took on the job despite her wanting to take a break before her next job in mid Dec 2020.

To keep this post simple, I will classify into 2 components – pros and cons:

Pros:

1) Packs light. She does not have many barang barang unlike the earlier CLs.

2) Extremely neat and tidy. I have quite serious OCD conditions and to be honest, was a little concerned because the 1st 2 CLs were really messy and dirty. However, Aunty Annie keeps my kitchen and house really clean and tidy at all times such that I really did not had a single moment of irk. Eg. She will pick up her hair strands every morning.

3) Hygienic – She is very particular about newborn handling. Eg she will insist on buying sterile cotton ball instead of those normal cotton ball for the sole purpose of cleaning the infant’s face. I also like it that she does not perspire much.

4) Only uses her phone when baby is sleeping and during her free time. Definitely not like some CLs who have excessive usage of handphones.

5) Very experience in handling babies. Loads of patience managing a crying baby. She will constantly talk to the baby to sooth them. She will also spend time to sit baby up to ensure baby burp even though it takes 30 mins or more (even at night).

6) Not lazy at all. She will regularly change baby’s clothes, burp cloth etc the moment it gets dirty as she insist baby’s cleanliness and hygiene is of utmost importance. She will also help to clean the room and tidy up the kitchen even though we are doing it on our own already.

7) Food is simple but delicious. Aunty Annie cooks up the nicest home cook food. Simple yet heart warming and of cos, healthy. She does not do much deep frying or oil splattering kind of dishes. Even if there is a need to, she will ensure that the kitchen is kept clean all the time. She will also not ask u to buy this buy that (some CLs will insist you purchase a certain brand of soya sauce, or insist you buy only food that they know how to cook).

8) Last but not least, she is very positive and happy-go-lucky. She has an inner sense of humour which keeps your day vibrant. She is also very encouraging towards mummies.

Cons:

1) Aunty Annie does have a light snore but trust me, her snoring is definitely acceptable compared to many other CLs that we have dealt with and honestly, being a CL is a tiring job. Snoring is inevitable

2) Aunty Annie may come across as a little chillax to some, but in my preference, I like it that way because we had an earlier CL who was very kan chiong about everything and she made the situation really tense.

3) Aunty Annie may be a little talkative at times, but that is after she knows you well enough! So if you are a really quite person and you prefer someone quieter, then Aunty Annie might not be suitable for you.

To sum things up, having Aunty Annie around really gave us a peace of mind. We were able to sleep through the night without having to worry about the wellbeing of our son as we know he is in good hands. We woke up every morning looking forward to each day and everyday was filled with positive vibes. I strongly recommend Aunty Annie should you want assurance that you have found an awesome CL. I’m really glad that I had Aunty Ling Hui take care of myself and my firstborn. We hired her for a month, and decided to extend her for a second month.

Baby Care

Aunty is experienced and has gone through formal training for baby care, and took really good care of my baby. Aunty was great at reading my baby’s cues and anticipating her needs, and so my baby wasn’t fussy and did not cry a lot. We trusted Aunty to do whatever she could to make my baby comfortable. My baby was extremely miserable after getting her vaccination shots, and Aunty held her for hours through the night to comfort her. My baby grew well under her care, and was in the 75-95th percentile in weight during the 6 weeks check up.

Aunty was patient in teaching us the ropes of caring for a newborn, and also addressed the never-ending concerns that we had. Due to her experience in caring for many babies, she was able to discern and highlight issues that we should attend to. She also placated our worries when concerns were unwarranted.

Confinement Care

Aunty is a fantastic cook; it was as though we had a private chef with us! She adjusted her cooking to suit our tastes, and was generous to cook for my extended family and guests at times. My helper’s cooking had also improved since.

While Aunty had a set of “do’s” and “don’ts” for confinement care, she respected my decision whether to adhere to them and was not overbearing in imposing them.

Work Ethics and Personality

Aunty is organised and neat – she organised my kitchen, the nursery, changing station and baby’s wardrobe, and kept things neat and tidy. Aunty has a jovial and easy-going disposition, and got along very well with our family and my helper. I did not have to give much instructions, and my helper and her worked out a system to share household chores.

I would highly recommend her services! Aunty is in high demand, so do get in touch with her early if you would like to engage her.

Auntie has been very helpful for us. From Day 1 that she arrived, it was full on baby caring mode. She had her routine set down. She knows well what she’s doing both for my baby and my wife, from showering, feeding, changjng clothes, DOs and DON’Ts for the baby as well as daily preparation of food, shower, drinks, tons of guidance and advise to my wife and myself. Auntie easily became a member of our family in the two months she’s been with us. She also knows how to take care of everyone including herself- which means she ensures she gets enough sleep by allocating a downtime in the afternoon for a nap without sacrificing the quality and care for both my baby and wife. This impressed me as it showed that she wanted to function and an optimal level,by knowing how to take care of her sleep too. I would recommend Auntie to those who both would require confinement care – even for all first time parents too.

Aunty Annie is a very dedicated nanny that ensures both my baby and me are well taken care off. She is also very experienced. She is very quick in catching my baby ques when he is cranky and able to pacify him timely.

While I am a 2nd time mum, she still provides great advises on the confinement practices and on taking care of the child.

Her cooking is simple but delicious. If time permits, she even went to the extra mile to cook something separately for my elder kid who is a picky eater.

So glad to have her for my confinement for 28 days. Will definitely recommend her.

Aunty Annie took great care me and my baby to ensure we are well-fed, well rested and taken care of during the confinement period. She actually kept our place very clean and tidy despite all the cooking.

Even when she’s busy cooking or doing things, once the baby cries she’ll put everything down and attend to my baby.

She is a pro in handling baby and I totally hands off and leave my new born in her good hands. I am glad to have good night sleep during my confinement period.

Overall she’s a good confinement nanny and definitely helpful to have her with us.
