My confinement ended in mid-February 2023 with nanny, Vivian Pang. Please see my review of her service as follow:-

Communication and Alignment of Expectations

· She communicated with me on my expectations before the confinement. During her confinement service, she did her best to align my expectations

· She offered her suggestions when we shared different views on how to take care of baby. She also taught me some trick on the easier way to do things (baby related) as well.

Taking Excellent Care of Mother and Baby

· She provided excellent care and support to the me. She always reminded me to have adequate rest and not lift anything heavy / overstrain myself. She would always help me out with any chores I needed to do.

· She always prioritized baby first regardless of what she was doing and talked to baby joyfully. She took great care of my baby so that i could focus on resting and recovery in the first two weeks.

Experienced and Knowledgeable

· Baby’s daily logs – She kept track of baby’s daily logs (feeding, diaper change etc) diligently. The daily logs not only helped us to keep track of feeding and diaper change but also helped us to provide a quick summary to the doctor when we went for baby check-ups.

· Breastfeeding – It was overwhelming for me as a FTM and I was struggling with latching. She provided maximum support in educating and helping me to cope with breastfeeding/latching issue and breast engorgement. After knowing my preference of breastfeeding, Vivian was very supportive and always brought my baby to me for latching every 2 to 3 hours. She also washed and dried all my pump parts without asking so that I could have a better rest.

· Dealing with Jaundice Issue – She would highlight her observation on baby’s skin condition (jaundice) and gave suggestion on how to better resolve baby jaundice issue (topping up of formula milk).

Cooking Skill/Style

· Vivian checked with me on my dietary requirements before the start of my confinement. She would always ask if I liked the dishes she prepared and seek feedbacks on how she could help to improve my appetite. She also made adjustment to her cooking after knowing that my husband is allergic to certain ingredients.

· Thorough the whole confinement period, she cooked nutritious food with less oil and/or no sugar. She also decorated the dishes to make them more appetizing. She even made the effort to cook special dinner (from scratch) for my husband and I on Valentine’s Day.

· I slimmed down quite fast after eating her confinement meals. Her daily confinement meals and red date tea also boosted my milk production. I do notice a significant decrease in the volume and creaminess of my milk production after my confinement ended.

Hygiene

· She was very particular about personal hygiene especially when it came to handling of my baby. She also taught me how to bathe my baby and take care of baby’s personal hygiene.

· She kept my kitchen spotless which I am very impress with. One particular incident was her using the cardboards from my grocery order as protection against the cooking stove back splash. Right before the end of confinement, she cleaned the kitchen and the rooms/tools she used, making sure things were how they used to be.

Personality

· Patient and Genuine Love & Care for my Baby – She talked lovingly to my baby when she interacted with my baby. She was very patient and always calmed my baby down every time my baby became cranky or screamed.

· Responsible – She was responsible and took good care of our baby when we had to go out to run some errands.

· Flexible and Easy-going– She got along well with my husband and chat with me daily to keep me entertained and make sure I feel ok. She was also flexible to make changes in the routine when we needed to go for medical appointments or had visitors.

Overall, it was a very good experience as I managed to get adequate rest and recover well from child birth. Vivian taught my husband and me how to take care / calm our baby. We are very satisfied with her confinement service and will definitely recommend her to anyone who is looking for a confinement nanny.

Hi my wife confinement ended in late nov with nanny Vivian Pang

She is very particular about her personal hygiene especially when it comes to handling of my baby. She would always bath/wash up after cooking or back from marketing before caring for the baby.

She also keeps my kitchen spick and span which I am very impress with. One particular incident is her using the cardboards we have accumulated from the baby’s purchases as protection against the cooking stove back splash.

She is very giving and not calculative and treated us to a meal when we brought the baby out for his check up together.

She also gets along well with our family members when they came around and they are all fond of her. My elder son is also very fond of her and she will make the extra effort to cook for my son who is quite picky with his food.

As my wife decides to breastfeed, Vivian is also very supportive and always brings the baby to her every 2/3 hours interval without any complains. She also washes all her pump parts without asking so that my wife and I can have a better rest.

In conclusion, We are glad for her help rendered for the 2 months we have engaged her for and will recommend her to anyone who is looking for a confinement nanny. Thank you once again Vivian Pang! 🙂

Would like to share my review of nanny Vivian.

She’s awesome! She is knowledgeable and we also communicate my expectations right at the start and she will do her best to align with us and also offer suggestions. Hygiene is good and she also shared her knowledge regarding breastfeeding. She give suggestion on how to better resolve baby jaundice issue.

Cooking wise is good and some dishes she even decorated it to make it more appetizing for us. Breakfast usually she cook noodle soup or fried beehoon. She will ask me if i’m ok with the dishes she prepared and adjust if needed. She also do pay attention to what my husband prefer on the dishes and make adjustment. She even made the effort to prepare burger from scratch for me.

She also took care of my fussy baby well and so throughout confinement i can focus on resting.

When she speak with us, it’s towards a louder tone but not harsh, she don’t give black face when you change her working style. She taught me some trick on the easier way to do things as well.

Its my 2nd born and to be honest she was way much better than My previous nanny.

Baby: Aunty Vivian is very attentive towards baby and always prioritize baby first regardless of what she’s doing at that point of time. Always talk to baby and very cheerful.

Mother: She always ensure and reminding me to have adequate rest. Will always help me out with any chores / things I wanna do. To ensure I don’t lift anything heavy or overstrain myself. She’s also very attentive to me not only towards baby.

Food: She will always ask if I am ok with the dishes she prepared and try to see how she can help to improve my appetite as my appetite wasn’t good for the first 2 weeks.

Family / Helper: She gets along well with my in-laws and chat with them daily to keep them entertained. 😂 She also helps to teach /guide our helper some cooking and in fact our helper was quite dependent on her. 😅 Probably only on the handover part done on last week which I had missed out as well, as our helper is on the slower side in picking things up thus when she left helper still wasn’t very familiar. Suggestion to other mummies if they have a helper to takeover, try to communicate earlier to do guidance earlier unless their helper fast in learning 😬

Breastfeeding: Overall she’s still quite supportive in letting me do direct latching after communicating with her this is my preference. As a ftm it was very overwhelming for me and I was struggling with latching thus I have engaged a lactation consultant over twice to my place and there are some conflicting views on letting baby latch on demand instead on 3hrly schedule. I do understand it’s very taxing on her as well however after communicating she still respect my decision and support me to her best she could 🙂 Suggestion to mummies who want to breastfeed based on direct latching on demand, do communicate in advance the kind of support you hope to get to align expectations! (I didn’t expect this as well thus when she kept suggesting to topup fm and comment I am a low supply even after the lactation consultant said I wasn’t, kinda trigger me while I was trying to improve my latching and establish my supply but it was just some mom blues, overwhelming emotions 😂)

Overall it was still a good experience as she really allow me to get adequate rest to recover well and prepare myself for the upcoming sleepless nights 😂
