Get in TouchWe have just wrapped up 54 days with Auntie Kim Yap, our confinement nanny and I truly cannot recommend her enough. She wasn’t just a wonderful nanny to my kids but a true pillar of support for me during this season.
She didn’t just care for my newborn, she cared for me too, making sure I could rest and recover while also showering so much love on our firstborn who absolutely adores her.
Her cooking deserves a mention. Instead of heavy greasy confinement food, her meals were nourishing, healthy and comforting. She was able to cook separate meals at different timings for our toddler (salt-free!), my confinement meals, regular dinners for my in-laws and even meals for visiting family, all while caring for the baby. She also trained our helper so we could continue enjoying her meals after she left. Truly amazing.
Auntie Kim was warm and attentive, sitting with me during pumping and nursing times, helping with clogged ducts and sharing practical baby care tips that actually worked 😂 We have many laughs and chats and it honestly felt like having my own mum here with me.
When our toddler unexpectedly came down with HFMD and my husband was out of the country, Auntie Kim couldn’t proceed to her next job because of our situation. We are so thankful for her kindness in staying on to care for the newborn while I focused on our toddler. I don’t know how I would have managed those 10 days without her and I’m so grateful for the peace of mind she gave us during such a stressful time.
This confinement didn’t feel like confinement at all. Unlike the chaos with my firstborn, I could rest and recover thanks to Auntie Kim’s warmth and meticulous care (she washes the kids’ bottles and cleaned the steriliser daily!).
Auntie Kim, thank you for everything you’ve done for us and you’ll always have a special place in our hearts!♥️
Kim is very good at taking care of baby and training new Mom. We leaned a lot from her already. and she also good at housekeeping and cooking .
We are very lucky to have Kim during our confinement.
It was a great pleasure to have Aunty Kim as our confinement nanny between Dec 22-Feb 23. She is a walking reference book on babies and never hesitate to share her knowledge. Her cooking is healthy, she made effort to add variety and even cooked for my husband without me asking her to do so. Aunty Kim takes a more ‘modern’ and science-based approach to confinement – I was glad I wasn’t restricted in ways that I have read about on forums. She is also very trustworthy and we could leave our little one at home alone with her without any worry. Aunty Kim treated my little one like her own grandchild and continues to stay in touch with to find out how our little one is. She got on well with all my family members and we could chat about anything under the sun. i didn’t just learn about babies from Aunty Kim but also some life lessons. She is even friends with my mum now!
I ended my confinement mid of September and my nanny was amazing! I highly recommend Auntie Kim Yap ! She took care of my baby and I so well! She even became friends with my helper and taught her how to be efficient in cooking. My helper now can take care of us and prepare amazing meals too!
Auntie Kim cooked for my FIL even though it’s not part of her scope. She is very giving and not calculative! Auntie Kim also taught me so much and gave me so many tips and tricks. really great for 1st time mums. She is very patient with my baby too and I can tell she genuinely loves and cares for us.
We are so blessed to have her with us during the earliest stages of my baby’s life and our new parenthood journey. thank you auntie Kim! our family misses you.
I ended my confinement on 20/12/2022 with Kim Yap. It is a very good 42 days of confinement as not only she helped me in the recovery but also taught both my husband and me tips and tricks for handling our baby.
Hygiene – Aunty Kim makes it a point to always clean up the kitchen after cooking every meal. Washing her hands and also washes up after she cooks or comes back from the supermarket/outside before attending to the baby. She also wore a mask when she was down with a slight cold and cough.
Knowledge – She is very knowledgeable when it comes to handling Chinese herbs, and knew which herbs are best for the recovery of the body. She takes note of the mother’s body before using the traditional herbs which she adds to her cooking.
Baby – Aunty Kim is able to communicate with the baby and also understands the baby well. She also makes it a habit to feed the baby in different areas of the house allowing the baby to get used to the environment. She also share and advised us on how to handle the baby in different scenarios.
Communications – She communicates well with both my mum and my mother-in-law in regard to groceries, sharing, and updating about the baby. She also advised them as first-time grandparents what should be taken note of when handling babies. Aunty Kim is also very direct when it comes to teaching us the different cues and needs of the baby and mother.
Cooking – Aunty Kim’s cooking is really very natural as she doesn’t use any MSG or preservatives in the food that she cooks. Other than just using Chinese herbs, it is very delicious and to my liking as well. Even my chef husband was very impressed with her cooking too! She cooks not only for me but also for both my husband and mother as well. She even helps to prepare fruits for the guest that came to visit.
Even after leaving our house, Aunty Kim Yap makes it a point to check up on us from time to time ensuring that we are doing good and the growth of the baby as well.
Overall, it was a great experience having Aunty Kim Yap as our nanny, and would love to engage her again if we have another baby. My family really misses the presence of Aunty Kim and even my baby misses her too! Would also recommend her to my friends and family who are going to give birth.
