I recently completed my confinement with Aunty Kim, and would highly recommend her!

She was a great help right from the start. When I returned from the hospital, Aunty had already arrived at my home, and had everything in order to welcome baby and I.

For the 2 months that she was with us, Aunty whipped up delicious and healthy meals that I looked forward to daily. She ensured that the meals were nutritious and helped to boost milk production. She volunteered to include my husband’s and helper’s portions too when cooking, and was even willing to cook for guests who visited us.

Aunty Kim is a natural with babies. She always knew what baby wanted, and showered her with loads of love. Aunty was very generous with her knowledge on how to care for babies, and shared plenty of advice with my helper and I. As my helper did not have much knowledge on how to care for baby, Aunty was very patient in guiding her along.

Aunty Kim is also very meticulous. She constantly looked out for my needs, and would volunteer help even if I didn’t ask for it. She looked after my health, well-being, and prioritised my recovery and rest.

Throughout the 2 months, Aunty was very encouraging and supportive through any difficulties that sprung up. We had many enjoyable chats and I miss her a lot now! We really appreciate all that she had done for our family and are very grateful for all the love and care showered on us. She was indeed a blessing to us!

I would like to highly recommend our confinement nanny Kim Yap. I recently completed my 28-day confinement with her, and I felt really sad when she left as Aunty Kim was such an absolute gem and help to our family. If I could, I would have loved to extend her stay with us!

Aunty Kim impressed us from the very first day with her organization and professionalism. She came equipped with her double boiler and pots, diaper/feeding log template, and even gifts for the baby and our toddler! She is very down-to-earth, and takes a more modern approach, informed by her constant upskilling and experience.

I really appreciated her positive attitude and efficiency. She not only prioritized the baby and my recovery and wellbeing, but also treated my family kindly whenever they came over. She even generously offered to cook extra dishes and meals for my family and friends, but was at the same time so well organized that she was never flustered having to do extra preparation.

Whenever I was breastfeeding, Aunty would never fail to make sure I’m well hydrated. She would sit with me, even in the middle of the night sessions, and stay very attentive to when I need a top-up of my drink, and baby needs to be burped or tended to when he gets fussy while feeding. I also enjoyed our chats and her sharing of advice/ baby care tips.

Aunty Kim is very particular about hygiene and cleanliness, which was very important for us with a newborn and toddler at home. After cooking, the kitchen would always be spick and span. She even suggested ways we could improve our kitchen organization to make workflow sensible and and easier.

When it came to cooking, Aunty Kim took note of what we had at home and tried to fully utilize existing condiments and ingredients, rather than making us go out to buy unnecessary groceries. She really took such good care of me when I was recovering, cooking healthy meals while trying to balance it with the needed confinement ingredients. When my toddler and I fell sick, she even proactively cooked suitable soups and food to aid our recovery.

She was also such a baby whisperer! Her magic touch and words easily calmed our baby, and she seemed to be so in tune with what our baby needed.

What really touched me was also how she took care of us right until the moment she left. She marinated meats and cooked extra portions for my upcoming meals, as she anticipated we might have our hands full the next couple of days. She also helped to guide our helper in caring for the newborn, and gave her tips to better manage her time and the household, which we were really appreciative of. Really glad to say we have made a friend in Aunty Kim, and have really missed her since she left!

I had just completed my confinement with Aunty Kim Yap and we are happy to share that we were lucky and grateful to be able to engage Aunty Kim!

Arrival Day:

– Nanny arrived early in the morning prior to my discharge time so that she could settle down. By the time we were home, there was a meal ready to fill my tummy and she was all ready to support baby and me.

– Few months before my EDD, she tried to understand my elder daughter likings (interest and foods) from me. Am surprised she brought a bag of gifts for my #1 and interacted with her. She believes in establishing a good relationship altogether so that she can support my daughter to adapt to the new baby too.

Confinement Food:

– Aunty Kim brought 2 bags full of her cooking appliances and equipments. This shows that she is determined to cook the meals with right techniques and provide the best for me.

– I had my preference of food but Aunty shared what is the right approach to go for. I followed her advices and indeed my recovery is faster than my first confinement.

– Aunty goes the extra mile to cook meals for my whole family. My #1 is a fussy eater, Aunty Kim has been very open minded and kept trying to cook her different meals to entice her eating palettes.

Hygiene:

– Aunty Kim is very hygienic. She ensures she washes her hands with soap before handling baby. She showers after clinic and supermarket runs, and after cooking.

– She is also very neat. She keeps all things tidy in the kitchen, bathroom, changing table and baby’s closet.

Baby Care:

– Aunty Kim treats the baby like her own! She handles the baby so delicately with the utmost hygiene. I learnt so much from her despite this is my second child.

– Despite how tired she is, she never once gets angry or frustrated when the baby constantly fussed.

– Aunty Kim is a baby whisperer! She understands the baby’s behavior/likes/dislikes in a short period of time and shared it with us so that we can care for the baby well after confinement ends. Baby also likes Aunty Kim a lot, baby felt safe with Aunty around and can be soothe by her very quickly.

– Aunty Kim is very observant. She raised area of concerns to us so that we will be more vigilant in caring our baby.

Time Management:

– I don’t know how Aunty Kim did it but she’s like a Ninja. She is always ready to support me and constantly caring for baby and yet able to put a table full of nutritious dishes on time. I hardly need to care for the baby with her around.

Overall:

– Aunty Kim is really nice to guide my helper on newborn baby care, teaches my helper how to cook chinese meals and constantly reminded my helper to be hygienic around baby.

– She played a large role in helping our family to adapt to our newborn.

– You can tell it’s not only about a job that Aunty Kim is fulfilling. She is passionate in what she is doing and she has so much love for the baby and our family.

We have just wrapped up 54 days with Auntie Kim Yap, our confinement nanny and I truly cannot recommend her enough. She wasn’t just a wonderful nanny to my kids but a true pillar of support for me during this season.

She didn’t just care for my newborn, she cared for me too, making sure I could rest and recover while also showering so much love on our firstborn who absolutely adores her.

Her cooking deserves a mention. Instead of heavy greasy confinement food, her meals were nourishing, healthy and comforting. She was able to cook separate meals at different timings for our toddler (salt-free!), my confinement meals, regular dinners for my in-laws and even meals for visiting family, all while caring for the baby. She also trained our helper so we could continue enjoying her meals after she left. Truly amazing.

Auntie Kim was warm and attentive, sitting with me during pumping and nursing times, helping with clogged ducts and sharing practical baby care tips that actually worked 😂 We have many laughs and chats and it honestly felt like having my own mum here with me.

When our toddler unexpectedly came down with HFMD and my husband was out of the country, Auntie Kim couldn’t proceed to her next job because of our situation. We are so thankful for her kindness in staying on to care for the newborn while I focused on our toddler. I don’t know how I would have managed those 10 days without her and I’m so grateful for the peace of mind she gave us during such a stressful time.

This confinement didn’t feel like confinement at all. Unlike the chaos with my firstborn, I could rest and recover thanks to Auntie Kim’s warmth and meticulous care (she washes the kids’ bottles and cleaned the steriliser daily!).

Auntie Kim, thank you for everything you’ve done for us and you’ll always have a special place in our hearts!♥️
